Exactly how do you burn a dvd movie?

a friend loned me the movie pion on dvd and i am very new to the computer,(self tought) so you can amage, but i'm wanting to burn the movie to a cd, can i ? if so, how do i go about doing this ? i 'll need step by step instructions, please, i need help, thanks everyone
