Taxation without representation?

I agree with your general views on the issue, and you are recognizing something that many others don't regarding taxes and illegal immigrants. For those reading this that do not know, illegal aliens are required to pay federal taxes, including filing tax returns, the same as a citizen is. Not all of them comply with this requirement, but many of them do because they know it will be looked upon favorably if they ever have a chance to become legal. Anyway, I think your idea would not work for one simple reason: Politics. The anti-immigrant crowd would view such a system as supporting illegal immigration. Also, many of them feel that illegals don't pay enough taxes.
