Help! My purse was stolen!?

Friday night my purse was stolen! I had everything in it, all my credit cards, cash, my social security, my ID, EVERYTHING! I immediately canceled all my credit cards, made a police report and requested monitering for fraud on the credit reporting agencies. I also called the RMV and SS office but they were closed for the weekend. Yesterday I took a day off from work to visit those offices in hopes that I can resolve this issue by changing my SS and Id numbers. All they said that they can do for me is send me a duplicate in the mail. I've tried calling other numbers but they were all automated hotlines that just left me in the dark. Somebody has my Social Security card and my ID and I do not feel safe. I was told that they can and will be sold to the hightest bidder and try to do whatever they want with it. The lady at the SS office said that my number cannot be changed, can somebody tell me if this is true? I am frantic for the answer... there has to be a way for me to feel secure!
